Progress Report #2

Its been about a month since my last update, so I figured another one was due.

13.  Give 10 Giftcards to Homeless- in progress
I have always felt uncomfortable giving homeless people money.  I love the homeless population, I intern at a crisis shelter for homeless youth.  Yet, giving money just never sat well with me.  Last year I read Under the Overpass and after I started the devotional, My 30 Days Under the Overpass.  It challenges you about how you act and treat other people, specifically the homeless.  One suggestion he gave was to hand out giftcards to McDonald's or something to panhandlers instead of giving them money.  So I want to hand out at least ten $5 giftcards.  The first week in January I went to New York City with Peter and I gave out 2 giftcards.

30.  Do All My 2010-2011 Winter XC Training- in progress
When winter training started I was determined to do all my cross country training, because next season I want to do my absolute best and have no regrets for my offseason training.  The first month I kicked butt with my training.  But then I got sick, and all my wisdom teeth out one week, and then I went to New Orleans for a week.  I tried my best to get runs in in NOLA, but I was so unmotivated.  I had no push and didn't really care, but I knew once I got to school I would start caring!  Needless to say I did not do all of my training.  After adjusting to my schedule I realized I would not be able to either.  Mike Wilson and I changed it around, so for the rest of my off season I will run at least 5 days a week!

34.  Volunteer Once A Month For A Year-in progress
Since I went to New Orleans on a missions trip in January I saw that as my volunteer for a year kick off.  We did street ministry, worked with schools, and worked at a house.  It was amazing and I love it down there.  On February 5, 2011 I volunteered at MCFOODS.  Peter's dad works there, it is a food distribution center, people donate food to them, they sort it and give it to food pantries and stuff.  We had to take food from bins and put them in boxes and label them, and then we sorted out bags to hand to schools for food collections.

74.  Spend 20 Minutes in Prayer Everyday For a Month with Journal- in progress
One thing that really lacks is my prayer life.  When I use a journal to write my prayers each night it really helps me focus and my mind wander less, I can also use it to see the progression of my prayers from day to day.  So finally I bought a notebook and on January 29, 2011 I started to journal my prayers.

Progress Report #1

Hey, so since I started my 101 in 1001 before I started the blog, there are a lot of goals that are already in progress which is good.  Also, as of 1:15 today two of them are complete!!!

23. Help 5 Strangers- in progress
On New Years Eve I went to CVS  to get something.  There was a man outside next to a motorcycle that said, "Broke Down Need Parts".  I just smiled and walked by.  After I left I had this pit in my stomach.   I saw a man in the freezing cold and I just smiled.  So I went back.  I felt like an idiot as I walked by him again and he said, "back for more?" So I went inside, bought chocolate for Peter's dad and on my way out asked him if there was anyone I could call for him.  He said no and that the part he needs is way too much money at the place that has it and the place that doesn't wont get it until after Christmas.  So until then he was waiting to find a place to stay.  I do not have the money to put this guy in a hotel and my dad would probably murder me if I invited him to stay at our house, because we were leaving.  So I went and bought him coffee and gave him some of the chocolate I bought.  I talked to him, Roger, for a little bit and then left.  I know I could have done more, but Roger said he was really grateful for the coffee.

26. Get my tragus pierced- COMPLETE
My friend Jenn and I had planned on getting our ears pierced a few weeks ago and we had failed to find the place.  So today we decided to try again.  We ended up finding it and even though she chickened out, I got my tragus pierced!!!

82. Have my own ice skates- COMPLETE
After asking for ice skates for about 7 years, I finally got them for Christmas.

84. Pray for Healing Everyday- in progress
I have a friend that I have been friends with forever and she has a disease.  It has just been a fact of life and something that has never hindered us, but is obviously not ideal.  Then one day I realized that in my struggles I rely on God to pull through and make me strong.  I have prayed for speedy recoveries and prayed for peoples health before, yet I have never prayed for healing for something that has no cure.  So starting on December 15, 2010 I have been praying for healing every night.  And I will every night until it is healed, even if that is the rest of my life!

90. Get 10 more shot glasses- in progress
Both my parents and Peter's parents collected shot glasses.  So we decided to also.  We have a small collection with some from the beach, New Orleans, and the Devils.  For my brother's birthday we went to Dave & Busters and with our extra points we got a new shot glass.  One down- Nine to go!

100. Read 7 Books for Fun- in progress
As many of you know reading books for fun is a new concept for me.  But I have been enjoying books more and have found certain genres that I like.  This past summer I read A Child Called "It".  So This winter break I read the second, The Lost Boy.  Now I am in the middle of the third, A Man Named Dave.  So far only the second one counts, but I'm excited to keep doing it.  One down- Six to go!
